Living Life in a Fish Bowl!

Gloria’s take on life.

Proud new owners of

After much Internet shopping –  followed with checking out more places then I can even count – we are now the proud new owners of a Yamaha Venture.

Ain’t she a beaut!!

Curt rode it home from the dealer. Then of course, we had to go for a ride.  The seat – now that is what I am talking about.  Like sitting on a comfy chair.  🙂

And it has a radio.  Now we be a styling!  All the way home we were jammin’ to K-Love.  However, when we got home we couldn’t figure out how to shut the radio off.  So here it is 10:30 and not only can’t we turn it off, we can’t turn it down.  Oh, it will go up, but then it won’t go down.  So we quick put the bike in the garage.  We do love our neighbors.  🙂  They probably thought it was just some young hooligan going through the alley. 🙂

I love the fact that this bike is one color.  Pastoring a small town church has meant that we have driven various automobiles.  At one time I asked God if our next vehicle could match.  See the car we were driving at the time had 2 mismatched front fenders.  Well, God has a sense of humor.  Our next vehicle did all match.  Oh, but it had rolled over a couple of times, so it had this interesting shape to it. 🙂  But it was sound.  Now I ask God for pretty and sound.  LOL

See my husband is particular about having dependable vehicles.  For this I really am very grateful.  In fact, one of our cars (with the bumper that has a permanent case of leaning to one side)  we drove all over, even to Georgia. Then we let our 16 year old son drive it for 2 years. He sold it  and 2 years later it is still going strong.  Doesn’t look good, but it is dependable.

This really is a blessing from God.  Successfully living on a budget means that you stay within that budget.  To find a bike that would fit our price range and be pretty was kind of a stretch.  And to have low miles on it was a real added blessing.

So if you see us going down the rode, give a holler or a wave.  Better yet join us as we take a ride enjoying the beauty that is all around us.

til next time

  1. She sure is pretty. Congratulations on the blessing. Hmmm, ‘twould be nice if “joining you” meant rolling along with, wind in the hair, on our own cycle…somehow I don’t think following along behind in our vehicle would provide quite the same experience…of course, envisioning us on a cycle of our own, joining you…why do I suddenly have visions from the movie “Wild Hogs” coming to mind? Maybe there’s a reason why God hasn’t granted us a bike yet…

  3. Just wanted to add that we have been looking since last fall for this bike. There were some that were pretty, some that were sound, some that were cheap, but it took until now, over nine months of looking, before we found one that was sound, pretty, and within our budget. It was tough, but we waited for the right moment. (We have a new vehicle account in our budget that we add to each month. Now we need to pray that our cars hold up. 🙂 )

  4. Lisa – have to admit the thought of “Wild hogs” did come to mind. Too funny.

Tonya – Oh sweet baby, yes, that would be your car I was talking about 😦 dependable but not pretty. Still think you should do the hand prints all over it 🙂

Curt – here’s hoping and praying our vehicles hold out til the boys are through college at least. Then I will be ready to trade the van in for something more ‘sporty’ haha, what can I say must be the midlife thing 🙂 OK I’d settle for smaller.

  6. Hey Cherie – heading your way is a great idea. To find a weekend when neither one of us are busy – that will be a challenge. I miss YOU!
