Living Life in a Fish Bowl!

Gloria’s take on life.

golden rule – easier said than done

Recently I was reminded again of The Golden Rule. I found myself thinking, well, should I handle this toward them the way they handled it toward me? Ok, so I admit that wasn’t the right response.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

It doesn’t say do unto others and then they will do the same to you. Sometimes this saddens me.

Recognizing my first response wasn’t Christ-like, I did respond in a godly way. To God be the glory.

The Message Bible states it pretty plain.

“Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the lovable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, do you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that’s charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that.” Luke 6:31-34 (MSG)
