Living Life in a Fish Bowl!

Gloria’s take on life.

make them feel loved

I’ve heard it said “People may forget what you said, but they will not forget how you made them feel.”

I dislike it when I hear someone say something that makes another person feel stupid. I know who I am in Christ so when that happens to me – I shake it off and actually feel bad for the person that was doing the talking.

Something to keep in mind is that insecurity is generally behind a know-it-all attitude. Tearing others down is the exact opposite of what we are called to do as Christians. A good rule of thumb is that unless it will cause harm, correcting people in a public setting may do more damage than good.

Today I read this quote:

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.” ~Nouwen

1 Peter 3:8-9 tells us to:

Sympathize – have compassion
be tenderhearted – kind, loving
keep humble – not sarcastic or puffed up
Be a blessing – make a difference

1 John 3:17-18 (NLT) If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

Take a moment and think about how you treat others. Maybe there needs to be some changes. God is right there ready to help you to be a blessing to others. The more I give, the more I understand the profound truth that it is more blessed to give than receive. (Acts 20:35)

Selah,

til next time
