Living Life in a Fish Bowl!

Gloria’s take on life.

abundant life? for me?

How would you describe your life?  Are you in a rut?  Are you enjoying life.  On a scale of 1 – 10 where would you put abundant living?  Do you even know what abundant living looks like?

Jesus said in John 10:10  – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  (KJV)

I want life more abundantly.  I believe there are many factors that are involved in living an abundant life.  First, and foremost, is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  He is the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to God unless they go through Him.  (John 14:6)

Our relationship needs to be growing.  1 Thess 5 tells us  what God’s will is for us, in Christ Jesus.  We are to rejoice, pray and give thanks.  How are you doing on those three things?

We  grow by reading the Word and  hearing the Word preached but that isn’t enough.  We must  apply the Word to our lives.  If it doesn’t change us, then we can’t expect to walk in the abundant life.

1 CORINTHIANS 16:13-14   “Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.” (MSG)

5 keys to living an abundant life
1. Keep your eyes open – watch – don’t stick your head in the sand and ignore what is going on around you
2. hold tight to your convictions – stand firm in your faith – don’t be wishy washy and when doubt comes at you, lift up your shield of faith
3. give it all you’ve got – be all in – 100% – be brave
4. be resolute – determined – strong – Joshua 1:9 tells us “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
5. love without stopping – walk in love – let all you do be love based – do unto others and you would want them to do to you. (Luke 6:31)

1 cor 16 13 14

I am going to work on these five things this week.  What about you?

Living the abundant life that Jesus came to give me!

God’s will?

What is God’s will for your life?  1 Thessalonians tells us three things that are God’s will for every believer.  I have room for growth.  How about you?

“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NASB)

Rejoice always – when things are going great it is easy to rejoice. Even when things seem to be falling apart we can rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus holds all things together. (Colossians 1:17) We are not alone. (Matthew 28:20) God loves us! (John 3:16)

Pray without ceasing –  Being aware of the presence of God in our day all day long – God is with us. His fingerprints are all around us. May we continue to cultivate an awareness of the presence of God.

Give thanks – Thanksgiving is approaching. A time set aside to remember and be thankful. While I enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, giving thanks should be a daily thing for us as believers in Christ. A heart of gratitude expressed through our words and actions is a powerful demonstration of what Christ is doing in our lives.

Let me say that again.

A heart of gratitude expressed through our words and actions is a powerful demonstration of what Christ is doing in our lives.  (gg)

God’s will for your life is to rejoice, pray, and give thanks.Whatever else He leads you to do, these three things will be part of it.

facing a crisis?

Are you facing a crisis?  Do the trials of life seem to be mounting?  The struggle is real.  We are in a battle but our God is greater than our enemy.  There is no comparison.

What do you do when facing a crisis – trial – struggle?

Pray — which involves casting your cares on Jesus (1 Peter 4:6-7) and being still so you can listen (Psalm 46:10)

Read the Word – what does it have to say about your situation? If your decision goes against God’s word then rethink your decision. Disobedience will not get you the peace and joy you seek.

Seek godly counsel – when this step is intentionally ignored it often means the decision you are about to make may not be the right one. Godly counsel points you to Christ and can help remove the blinders that may be hindering you from seeing truth. (Proverbs 11:14)

Then having done these steps, submit to God – don’t be ruled by your emotions – recognize that while your feelings may be strong, they also need to be nailed to the cross. (Gal 5:24)

Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Hope – joy – peace = fantastic!   And just what I need today!

Trusting God – He will see me through and you can count on Him too!
