Living Life in a Fish Bowl!

Gloria’s take on life.

God smiles

God smiles. “For the Lord takes pleasure in his people…” (Psalm 149:4 ESV)

Some people have a distorted view of God. They see Him as distant, angry, and/or uninvolved. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

God loves us. He has desired a relationship from the very beginning. He would walk with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. (Genesis 3) — He gave His Son to pay the price we couldn’t pay. (John 3:16) — We are told to seek Him. (Psalm 27:8) — Yes, God wants a relationship with us.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:7-8 ESV

What about you? Where is your relationship with God?

Thy will be done,
til next time

let them see Jesus in you

My prayer for you today comes from Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)

24 ‘May the Lord bless you

    and protect you.

25 May the Lord smile on you

    and be gracious to you.

26 May the Lord show you his favor

    and give you his peace.’

May today find you noticing the blessings of God. Blessings are all around us. He is with us and He will make a way where there may seem to be no way. (Isaiah 43:19)

God smiles. “For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;” (Psalm 149:4 ESV)

We don’t have to look far to see how gracious God is to us. His grace (getting what we don’t deserve) and His mercy (not getting what we deserve) are examples of His great love for us.

Favor and peace – Thank you God! He is working all things out for our good. (Romans 8:28) He is able to do more than we can even begin to imagine. (Eph 3:20) His grace is enough. (2 Cor 12:9)

May God bless you today and may we not forget that it is God. Throughout the day stop, look up and thank Him for the big and the small things. It is also good for us to remember that He blesses us to be a blessing to others. (Gen 12:2)

Let your light shine. Let them see Jesus in you.

go ahead – smile :)

Today — I hope that you put your smile on and share it.

It seems that everywhere I go, I see people who could use cheering up. I may not know their story but I do know Jesus makes everything better.

I can share the hope and love Jesus has given me. I can brighten up my corner of the world. Smiling is contagious. Just go ahead and try it and see for yourself.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Look for the fingerprints of God — they are everywhere!!

a smile on my face

I was looking for a verse on hope today.  The Bible is filled with them.  God is a God of hope.  No matter how difficult life may become, we have hope that God will turn it around.   It is a promise.  Romans 8:28

As God so very often does, He gave me so much more than just one scripture on hope.    For today’s blog I am going to just let the scripture do the talking and thank God again for His Word that breathes freshness into my life.

“Fixing my eyes on God — soon I’ll be praising again.  He puts a smile on my face.  He is my God!!”

A white-tailed deer drinks
    from the creek;
I want to drink God,
    deep draughts of God.
I’m thirsty for God-alive.
I wonder, “Will I ever make it—
arrive and drink in God’s presence?”
I’m on a diet of tears—
tears for breakfast, tears for supper.
All day long
    people knock at my door,
Pestering,
“Where is this God of yours?”

These are the things I go over and over,
emptying out the pockets of my life.
I was always at the head of the worshiping crowd,
    right out in front,
Leading them all,
    eager to arrive and worship,
Shouting praises, singing thanksgiving—
celebrating, all of us, God’s feast!

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul?
Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God—
    soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face.
    He’s my God.

When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse
    everything I know of you,
From Jordan depths to Hermon heights,
    including Mount Mizar.
Chaos calls to chaos,
to the tune of whitewater rapids.
Your breaking surf, your thundering breakers
    crash and crush me.
Then God promises to love me all day,
sing songs all through the night!
    My life is God’s prayer.

Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God,
“Why did you let me down?
Why am I walking around in tears,
    harassed by enemies?”
They’re out for the kill, these
    tormentors with their obscenities,
Taunting day after day,
“Where is this God of yours?”

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul?
Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God—
    soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face.
He’s my God.  Psalm 42  MSG

2015 begins tomorrow.  What will it bring?  Whatever comes your way, rest in the hope and promise that God is holding your hand!

new yearIf you have a moment, listen to this song by Steven Curtis Chapman.  It is how I am ending 2014 and starting 2015!!
